Carolyn Richman Peart is a Managing Director and leads the firm’s Architecture, Engineering, Construction & Real Estate (A/E/C/RE) Practice. In this role, she holds full responsibility for all client relations, client strategy programs and search execution within the practice. Carolyn is also a key member of the firm’s Corporate Officers Practice, and she handles senior level management assignments, including C-level, President, Principal, Director and Vice President, as well as searches for functional heads of finance, business development and operations.

In addition to her executive search practice responsibilities, Carolyn is heavily involved in the local Richmond, Virginia business and nonprofit communities. Serving on several nonprofit broads, Carolyn has helped organizations raise significant capital through creative fundraising events often featured in the media, including NBC, PBS, CBS, Richmond magazine, the Chicago Tribune and the Richmond Times Dispatch.

Carolyn’s extraordinary candidate assessment ability has resulted in one of the highest stick ratios in the business; many of her placements have become effective and valued leaders in their respective companies. Her pin-point accuracy at identifying and matching the candidate’s abilities and career goals with the client company’s vision and mission have garnered respect and admiration throughout her market segment.

She joined the executive search team at Cook Associates, Inc. in 1991 following her experience as the Founder and President of a successful regional executive search firm focusing on senior management assignments in all areas of architecture, engineering, construction and real estate.

Earlier in her career, Carolyn was the first female hired by Procter & Gamble for their professional leadership track, rising to the level of Midwest Regional Sales Manager. To this day, she applies that same “can-do” spirit to her retained search assignments. 

Carolyn is a recognized expert in executive search and retention and is an invited speaker at numerous national professional association meetings including: ACEC, AGC, AIA, ASID, IFMA and SDA. She has authored articles on executive selection and retention for AIA Focus, Construction Management, Building, Design and Construction, ENR and other architecture and engineering newsletters.

Carolyn holds a bachelor of science in business from the University of Massachusetts.
