Marc Barowsky is a Director within the Executive Search Group of Cook Associates and located in the Boston office. In this role, he is a member of the Technology & Communications, Media & Entertainment and Educational Services Practices.
In his 10+ years of recruiting, he has helped to successfully complete assignments with firms ranging in size from pre-revenue startups to multibillion dollar enterprises—including Ahura Scientific (acquired by Thermo Fisher), Avaya, Corinthian Colleges, Fast Search & Transfer (acquired by Microsoft), Imagitas, Sybase, Quattro Wireless (acquired by Apple) and Yankee Group—recruiting senior executives for roles in sales, marketing, finance, customer service, HR, academics and consulting.
Marc has presented to college and professional audiences on research and recruiting, and conducted a research skills and methodology workshop in London in early 2007.
Prior to joining Cook, Marc operated his own research & recruiting firm and provided candidate development and research support for executive search assignments, as well as qualified sales and marketing lead generation and primary niche market intelligence for technology companies and retained executive search firms. Some of these projects were for companies like: Lexis-Nexis/Riskwise, Clearwater Seafoods and Kalido
Previously, he was a Senior Research Consultant in the Boston office of Russell Reynolds Associates (RRA) in the Technology sector with clients such as Jabil Circuit and Lucent, on assignments at the CEO, COO, EVP/GM and Board level. He also formed and conducted monthly research best practices conference calls for technology researchers in the US and UK.
Prior to Russell Reynolds, Marc worked for Onesource Information and CorpTech (acquired by Onesource) successfully marketing and selling software and online information products to the search, high tech, economic development and PEO industries.
Previous to Onesource/Corptech he worked with a business unit of publishing giant Thomson Corporation of Canada. In this capacity Marc again successfully managed numerous large territories and was one of the top performers in his group selling business publications and software to consultants and senior executives at organizations like USTA and Comedy Central/Viacom.
Marc holds a BA in liberal arts from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and lives in the Boston area with his wife of 17 years and their two children.
